The Christmas story is the heart of the gospel and the greatest gift God has given to the world. More than two thousand years ago, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born in humble circumstances in Bethlehem. This was not by accident but according to God’s perfect plan, foretold by the prophets long before.

Wise men from the East saw a star and travelled a great distance, seeking the newborn King of the Jews so they could worship Him. When they asked King Herod about the child, he pretended to share their interest, but in reality he was threatened and planned to destroy the baby. Yet God’s purposes cannot be stopped.

Meanwhile, Mary and Joseph obeyed Caesar’s decree for a census and travelled to Bethlehem. With no room in the inn, they were offered only a stable. In that simple, lowly place, the Son of God was born. The angel had told Mary she would give birth to the One who would reign forever, and now the promise was fulfilled.

That night, angels appeared to shepherds, announcing, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” The shepherds hurried to see the baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. Heaven rejoiced, singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”

The Christmas story reminds us that true joy is not found in gifts, decorations, or celebrations, but in Jesus Himself. He is Emmanuel, God with us. The child in the manger grew up to die on the cross and rise again, offering salvation to all who believe. Christmas is not about what we receive for ourselves, but about the gift of God’s Son, given in love for the whole world.
