Trusting God: The Story of Abraham and Isaac
The episode about Abraham and Isaac teaches one of the most powerful lessons in the Bible—what it truly means to trust and obey God. Abraham had waited many years for a son. God had promised that through Abraham’s descendants, all nations would be blessed (Genesis 12:2–3). When Isaac was finally born, he was deeply loved. But then God gave Abraham a test: “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there…” (Genesis 22:2).

This may sound shocking, but the Bible is clear—God never intended for Isaac to die. It was a test of faith. Abraham obeyed, even though it must have broken his heart. He trusted that God would still keep His promise, even if Isaac died. Hebrews 11:19 tells us that Abraham believed God could even raise Isaac from the dead.

This episode reminds us that God wants to be first in our lives—even above the things we love most. It also shows that God is faithful. He keeps His promises. Abraham’s obedience led to a blessing for the whole world, and through Jesus (one of Abraham’s descendants), we are offered eternal life.
Just like Chris in the episode, we all face moments where we have to choose obedience. Will we trust God, even when it’s hard? Abraham’s story encourages us to say yes.
